Dominika Cibulkova will play the final at the Katowice Open against Camila Giorgi. After a more than three hours lasting match against Carina Witthoeft she had to compete with the Italian Francesca Schiavone. The first set was a close win for the Slovak lady (7-5). In the beginning Francesca not only played the balls hard and deep but also, by producing drop-shots, close behind the net. Dominka asked for her coach and as she told the press; ‘I was not playing bad, but I was not winning. He told me to play more aggressive, so I did’. Irritated by a decision of the referee the nuance disappeared from the game of Schiavone and she was going for the hard flat groundstrokes all the time. Dominka said in the press conference that ‘Francesca’s game from that moment was ‘yes or no’ and she started to play in away I like my opponents to do.’ It’s clear that this was case. Playing hard en flat groundstrokes is what Cibulkova likes her opponents to do. It favors her own game. Azarenka can tell you that, who lost several matches from Cibulkova. The win of the second set was crystal clear: 6-1. In the next match her opponent was the French Pauline Parmentier. Also in this match the first set was very tight (7-5). But supported by the crowd – the Spodek arena almost seemed to be located in Bratislava- Dominika rumbled to a 6-0 victory in the second set: game , set and match Dominka Cibulkova. The fina against Girogi is going to be very interesting given the fact that the game of the Italian girl consist mainly of flat, hard and deep groundstrokes…
